About

Updated: 2. April, 2009.
Hello. This is my blog. It has a very non-descriptive name, as lack of money/interest has kind of prevented me from having much to do with cars recently. That’s ok, I still like them. I like other things too: free culture for example, which I contribute to via free software development and some minor activism back home in Iceland. I work as a software developer at a pretty cool place called CELSTEC, more on that here. I was born in 1983, so I’m not a very old person. Anyone else think it’s getting bothersome to have so many digital reflections in this day and age? My name is “Steinn E. Sigurðarson”, if you feel like contacting me you can do so via a comment, or probably a more effective way would be to google me and find me somewhere (facebook, myspace, linkedin, hyves, twitter, etc.)

Old description (Jan. 2007):
If anyone is interested the driver is named Steinn E. Sigurðarson, and is a 23 year old programmer living in Vienna Austria / Reykjavík, Iceland. This blog was originally started to write about cars and driving — one of my many passions. However now (January 2007) as I am moving to Vienna, Austria, I’ll have to sell my car in Iceland, and god knows when I’ll have the means to get another one. Due to this fact, I might have to spend more time writing about my various software projects, or other passions, such as music.
I came up with the name “the driver” when I wrote a short story recently loosely based on my experience, and the most natural way to refer to “my” character in the story was “the driver”. Driving is a great passion of mine, and started sometime in 2002, before that time cars were just a way of getting between places.

My last car was a three door ford focus, with a 2.0L zetec-e engine, a whopping 130hp stock, with a 0-100km/h time of 9.2s. I did some minor modifications to it, which aren’t very important, but hopefully helped a bit. The focus is sorely missed. Before the focus I had a 1400cc Renault Clio, which was actually pretty reliable, and looked pretty good, till it became one with a motorcycle. Before having that one I had a Subaru Justy J12, a 1200cc carburetted car which guzzled more petrol than my focus, and had less power than my clio.
