Indeed... whole nations need to gain some PERSPECTIVE!

I seriously doubt that anyone in the UK realizes how incredible the impact is on Iceland... especially when compared to the impact the same amount has on their economy. Of course this is something the media is partly to blame for as most if not all of the news no not emphasize this point in any way ( nor seemingly even bring it up at all! )

P.S. ...and how is it possible I'm the first person to leave a comment on this excellent post - this could not be presented in a clearer way IMO and should also provoke some response, even if just to agree whole-heartedly :-)

The code works nice if only mootools is used. What happens if another framework is currently running? I's assume that you should test if mootools may cause conflicts.

Two things (none of them related to your post):
When I registered to post a comment, the WordPress dashboard informed me that you are running an old version of WordPress, and should upgrade, which is probably why there is a second point at all:
Check your RSS feeds, the previous posts in the feed is normal, while this post (and possibly any following this?) get a whole lot of viagra spam appended to the end of the post. Doesn't show up in the actual post, but in the RSS feeds.
It sucks, but now you know :/
Cheers

Well, after some different chat experiences, some papers read and a couple of nights working, I´ll try to do a more scientific comment here (sorry Steinn, I´m so pigheaded; I promise I´ll finish here). This is the point of view of a Psycho/Sociolinguist (more or less):

Anonymous chat online is exciting not exactly because we project our wishes there but because we know the environment is a bit tricky. We all know that people lie so often, so we create an avatar for the chat and, at the same time, we are attending the conversation as spectators. So we are watching a film where we are one of the main characters and we rewrite the script depending on the other´s attitude.

We pay more attention on the words, the communication expresion used than on the information shared there. What we say is less important than how we say it, so we need a very extensive linguistic- and communication estrategies- repertory to be able to set ourselves on the conversation. If the scriptwriters are bad and there is no co-ordination, people disappear, but what usually happens is that we meet someone writing a very similar script, so we start a "private film".

Then, when we start a good online conversation, we enjoy trying to discover what those people are really like, so we start a linguistic treasure quest trying to find hints to know more real information about the others.

What does it mean? That language teachers have to think a lot about how we can make language students learn all this stuff!!

Sure a good text chat integrated in moodle will help us a lot ;-)
